Suffolk-based event launches as darts ‘has never been more in the headlines’

Stonham Barns Park – one of Suffolk’s premier leisure, retail and holiday destinations – has staged a qualifying event for a Suffolk Super Series darts tournament (on 8 March) which saw the return of play at the Suffolk venue for 2025.  The event was won last year by Darren O’Neill from Essex who beat a strong turnout of players.

The event at The Barn was one of 8 events taking place at venues throughout Suffolk – presented by Evolution Darts in association with Target Darts – leading to a finals day later in the year during December.  Other events for 2025 in the series include The Mid Suffolk Masters on 10 May, Mid Suffolk Open with a £3K prize fund on 16 August and Grand Slam Doubles Darts on 8 November.

The Super Series Darts Tournament is sponsored by Legends Bar and Café 24.

Players who have featured in last year’s events include Jack Langston, Stephen Burton, Ryan Meikle, England International Jo Locke, Kevin Edwards, Nathan Potter, Ashley Coleman and Stonham Barns Park-sponsored youth player Lennon Wharf who is just 11-years old.

The event – with a £8000 prize fund – sees competitors coming from all over the UK.

Jack Main showed all his experience to take a stunning last leg victory to win the event. Jack, a multiple winner in the £8000 series held across Suffolk, beat a host of top local players to take the title including a 4-2 victory in the semi-final against best friend and PDC development tour star Tyler Thorpe to cement his place in the final.

In the final he would face multiple winner Bury St Edmunds’ own Henry Cutting. Henry, who came through arguably the tougher half of the draw, playing Cambridge County player Peter Cousins in the quarter finals, and winning an epic semi-final clash 4-3 against World Seniors finalist Kevin Edwards.

A back and forth final would see Henry leading 3-2 before a 2 leg burst of power scoring saw Jack take the lead 4-3, much to the crowds delight. Henry won a tense 8th leg to take the competition all the way to a decider. A fitting end to a high standard final with Jack holding his nerve to take the title.

The big story of the day came in the form of 11-year-old Lennon Wharf. Lennon playing his first major adult event showed everyone just what all the hype is about by taking out some seasoned players to progress from his group in second place losing only 1 match. in the KO stages. Lennon gave us a glimpse of the great things to come winning his last 16 match 3-1 against Suffolk County player JJ Wright before eventually being beaten by Senior’s star Kevin Edwards in the quarter finals.
