The First Show Kicks Off in a Series of History Re-Enactments
See how gun warfare developed over the years as history comes to life in Suffolk
Stonham Barns Park, one of Suffolk’s premier leisure, retail and holiday destinations, has hosted the first of a series of four re-enactment shows for families and history lovers from all over the region.
Musket Fire was a two-day event which is brand new to the calendar. It brought together all the drama of the battlefield with gun warfare tactics explained. Visitors were able to hear the roar of the guns and smell the black powder in the air as the age of the gun was demonstrated by re-enactors from all over the region.
Organisers demonstrated how the history of gun warfare developed over the years as the showground told the story of conflicts such as the War with Napoleon and the American Civil War. Those who attended were able to visit the camps of the British Army during the Napoleonic War and see how the people lived and fought for their country.
The story of the brutal American Civil War was where brother fought brother and a nation’s fate was formed. There was the chance to see the camps of the North and South armies to compare the two and see the similarities and differences that existed at the time.
Said Fraser Carson from Stonham Barns Park, ‘This is one of three brand new shows we are bringing to Stonham Barns Park. We have seen huge success with our other shows including History Alive and Saxon & Viking Festival and these extra shows are proof that the public has a keen interest in learning about history and experiencing it first-hand.’
