Three dates to meet and greet families and sports enthusiasts at the holiday and leisure venue
Stonham Barns Park – one of Suffolk’s premier leisure, retail and holiday destinations – is to play host to Suffolk darts legend Keith Deller on three dates over the next two months.
The Ipswich-born darts star will visit the new Legends Sports Bar – named in honour of a variety of sporting legends – to meet and greet families and people from the Suffolk community and to share some stories from his past and his thoughts on the highs and lows of today’s major sporting events.
A former professional darts player, he is best known for winning the 1983 BDO World Darts Championship – beating the mighty Eric Bristow in the final watched by a TV audience of 10 million – and the British Professional Championship in 1987. In his recently released book 138: Game Shot and the Match, Keith, now 62, takes readers on an intimate journey as he relives his rapid rise from complete obscurity to lifting the game’s greatest prize as one of the youngest world champions in history.
The dates are 13 August, 24 September and 1 October and will include some Lucky Numbers darts fun with some fellow pros who will be invited along as Keith’s special guests. They are aimed at anyone who wants to get a little more interested in darts whether young, old or any age. Said Keith, ‘We are looking to encourage some darts teams to play here so people can spectate some top-level darts but we do also want people just to join in to create a culture of community darts that will keep people occupied long after the summer months are gone.’

The Legends Sports Bar is part of a new facility for the holiday park and it will also be the setting for some celebrity sports events covering a multitude of sports including darts, football, rugby, cricket, horse racing, and motorsport. Plans are already in place to replicate some Las Vegas-style events as well as family activities too.
