It’s the All Action Steam, Vintage & Rural Show 2021
Steam and vintage exhibits plus the Vander Brothers aerial stunt act and The Sheep Show
Stonham Barns Park is preparing to roll out its ever-popular annual Steam, Vintage & Rural Show bringing together a collection of historic traction engines, steam rollers and other attractions such as tractors, stationary engines, agricultural and construction vehicles, cars, vintage motorcycles, bicycles and wood and metal crafting.
There will be vintage vehicle demonstrations each day of the weekend of 22 and 23 May in the show ring and the vehicles will be parked up for members of the public to view the exhibits more closely and talk to the owners.
A highlight of this year’s show will be the all action stunt show Vander – Double Wheel of Death, an 11 metre structure which rotates on a central axis with a cage at the end of each axial. The Vander team run, skip, juggle and even go blindfolded on the outside of the wheel during the mesmerising stunt display. The Vander Wheel of Death (established in 1987) has toured the UK and performed at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Glastonbury and their world tour has taken them to Moscow’s Red Square, the F1 GP in Bahrain and to Dubai.
By way of a contrast, rural life is showcased by The Sheep Show. A live stage show appearing at over 120 outdoor shows throughout the country from the Orkney Isles to the Royal Cornwall Show.
Presented in the style of the famous New Zealand sheep shearers, the show introduces 9 breeds of sheep, each with a story to tell. The educational and entertaining show concludes with an all-action sheep shearing display.
Alan Forward, Stonham Barns Park owner, said: ‘This is one of our most popular events of the year and we are looking forward to hosting it again this year with all the safety protocols in place. There’s nothing more inspiring than attending a steam and vintage show and we have lots of action to add to the rural spectacle. Everyone steps back in time with the sights and smells of the era. It’s hugely nostalgic for the adults and a great escape from everything – and the kids just love the splendour of it all and the chance to get up close to the exhibits!’
There will be plenty of stalls selling gifts and memorabilia, along with food outlets and a licensed bar.
Adult tickets are £10 per person while the under 12’s are admitted free. For advanced tickets and more information call Stonham Barns Park on 01449 711111 or visit www.stonhambarns.co.uk Opening times are 10am – 4pm. Dogs are welcome but they must be kept on leads.
