Calling all Mini Lovers from Across the region …

Mini Clubs and owners from across the region prepare for the ‘Suffolk Mini Show’

Stonham Barns Park is hosting a fun packed weekend on Saturday and Sunday 5/6 June for anyone who loves classic and modern Minis.

The Mini Barn Bash, now an annual favourite, sees Mini Clubs from across East Anglia coming together for the spectacle of the ‘Suffolk Mini Show’.  Hundreds of Minis will be descending on the venue to demonstrate the magnificence of the small economy car produced by the English-based British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000.  Now owned by BMW, Minis are still one of the nation’s favourite car marques now including the New Mini Electric variant.

Organised by Mini-expert and enthusiast Carl George of the Ipswich & Suffolk Mini Owners Club (ISMOC), the event is open to mini club members on Saturday (all day with camping available) and to the public on Sunday.

As well as all the mini club events, club games, competitions with trophies, autojumble stands, there will be food and drink outlets and a licensed bar.  Other attractions on the day will be available to visitors including a children’s funfair and bouncy pillow, the shopping village, golf and other leisure amenities too.

New ISMOC member Mike Suffling will be travelling to the show in style in his 1968 Mini MKII 1000cc Traveller.  He acquired it from a nun who was the original and sole owner.   It had 54,000 miles on the clock and was in mint condition. When the nun died she left the Mini in her will back to the garage owner!

Alan Forward, Stonham Barns Park owner, said: ‘Here’s another of our favourite shows of the year.  It’s the car show with fun written all over it.  Owners are so happy to show off their cars – from the perfect factory fit to the creatively-customed.  It’s an amazing day out for anyone who loves some fun.’

The show has previously held an event to see how many people could fit in a Mini and the answer was 15!  The World Record is 27.  With Covid regulations including social distancing  this and other games will not be included in this year’s event.

Ticket prices for entry to the event on Saturday and Sunday are £10 per person – which you can either buy in advance or pay at the gate – and children under 12 are welcome for FREE. The venue is also dog friendly but owners must make sure their dogs are always kept on short leads.
