Autumn Antiques, Vintage, Retro & Collectables Fair Draws ‘Bargain Hunters’ to Stonham Barns Park as people take a ‘new look’ at reusable antiques and salvage

A brand-new Autumn Antiques, Vintage, Retro & Collectables Fair at Stonham Barns Park – one of Suffolk’s premier destination venues – attracted many traders and visitors last weekendIt followed on from a highly successful Spring Fair staged at the venue in March this year.

Organised by the owners of Aspal Antiques, Aspal Emporium and Aspal Reclamation a new 3000 sq ft antiques centre at the venue, the show featured items from over 30 specialist traders from the East of England.  It was a show that has something for everyone as visitors showed their support to both the environment and small businesses by shopping for antiques and reclaimed items for the house and garden.

Explains Alf Faulkner of Aspal Antiques, ‘The Aspal Antiques Fair was a huge success with knowledgeable Dealers selling top quality items at reasonable prices. We were delighted that the Dealers and buyers supported this event in the same way they did when we hosted the Spring Fair.

‘Interest in antiques fairs never wanes and this one was no exception.  The fair had a lovely atmosphere as people looked out bargains from the sustainable pieces for the home and garden including retro and vintage furniture, Art Deco pieces, architectural salvage, statuary and so much more.’

‘We will be doing it all again on Saturday 16 March 2025 and for those who would like to book a stall or require further information we would be very happy to hear from you.’

‘TV programmes help to make antiques hunting a favourite pastime.  It’s fun and therapeutic and we hope the trend continues as we endeavour to bring all of the best antiques in Mid-Suffolk together at Stonham Barns Park.’

Owned by two enterprising couples, Alan Knight and Henrietta Lewis – and Wendy and Alf Faulkner – Aspal Antiques has recently expanded the business with the increase in demand for antiques as a result of refurbishments, renovations and people looking to ‘treat’ themselves to something collectable that fits a passion or interest like Militaria and Victoriana.

The owners not only sell the stock they source themselves but also offer antiques ‘collectors and traders’ the chance to rent cabinet space from them at a monthly charge to promote a wide range of antique pieces in one central space.  They have also opened a new Reclamation Yard which offers architectural reclamation pieces that are now included in feature-rich property make-overs.
