Light by Night brings all the joy and calm of scented candles and soaps to buyers

A business at Stonham Barns Park – one of Suffolk’s premier leisure, retail and holiday destinations – that opened up a year ago has moved to a larger outlet as it celebrates a successful year of trading.  With fragrances such as Zesty Orange, Lime Basil and Mandarin and Fluffy Towels buyers from the region have supported the new venture as they incorporate aromatherapy candles into their life.  The outlet Light by Night – is a Home, Fragrance, Bath and Body store selling hand-crafted scented candles, tea lights and wax melts and never have they been more in demand than during the recent cost of living crisis when stress levels have been high.

After the challenges of the last four years, Grant Clarke, from Clacton-on-Sea, found that his ‘Well Being’ candle range was being sought out as a remedy to the stresses and strains of modern life. It’s just one of the candle ranges made by Grant who produces his candles using 100% natural soy wax and cotton wicks, making them perfect for vegan customers.  ‘The fragrances all help with relaxation – and can provide the ideal setting for meditation – and that’s what we all still need, says Grant.

‘Aromatherapy products of all kinds including these naturally made products are making quite a comeback.’

Grant (36) studied at Art School and so has always been creative, but he originally developed and ran a car body repair business in Essex.  He has been making candles for the past 10 years as a hobby, but it recently took priority as he was told his lungs were being adversely affected by the dust and paint particles associated with the car repair business.  He changed his career path and has not looked back.  His products were attracting larger numbers of buyers and so the switch was an easy move.

Explains Grant, ‘I have always had a deep passion for wellness and self-care, and I want to make a difference to people’s lives with aromatherapy.  I am fascinated by the power of scent and its ability to influence our emotions and well-being. Inspired by this, I founded Light by Night, a store dedicated to curating a range of products that promote wellness and enhance the senses.’

What makes Light by Night unique is Grant’s personal touch. He handcrafts 80% of the stock himself, pouring his heart and soul into every candle, soap, and lotion he made. Grant believed that by handcrafting the products, he could infuse them with his own positive energy and intentions, creating a truly transformative experience for his customers.

Not only does Grant create his own products, but he also collaborates with other small, like-minded businesses and entrepreneurs who share his passion for wellness. He carefully selects 20% of the stock from these partners, ensuring that each item aligns with Light by Night’s mission and values. Grant believes in supporting fellow entrepreneurs and creating a community of wellness enthusiasts.

Grant also wholesales his products to other small businesses and boutique stores, even reaching as far as Scotland. His ultimate mission is to provide a full wellness experience for his customers, whether they are shopping at the physical store within Stonham Barns Park retail village or browsing the online website, www.lightbynight.co.uk.
